PETG

Introduction

PETG is a kind of transparent plastic and an amorphous copolyester.

The common comonomer of PETG is 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM), which is called polyethylene terephthalate-1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol. It is a condensation product of terephthalic acid (PTA), ethylene glycol (eg) and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM). Compared with pet, PETG has more 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol comonomers and PCT has more ethylene glycol comonomers. Therefore, the performance of PETG is quite different from pet and PCT and has its unique characteristics. So far, there are only two companies in the world, Eastman and SK, with mature technology.

Eastman PETG and SK PETG are the main domestic agents, such as Shanghai lianmo Chemical Co., Ltd. With the increase of CHDM in the copolymer, the melting point decreased, the glass transition temperature increased, and the crystallinity decreased. Finally, the amorphous polymer was formed. Generally, the content of CHDM in PETG is 30% – 40%. It has good viscosity, transparency, color, chemical resistance and stress whitening resistance. It can be formed by hot forming or extrusion blow molding quickly. Viscosity is better than acrylic acid (acrylic). PETG products are highly transparent, good toughness, suitable for forming thick wall transparent products, PETG processing molding performance is excellent, can be designed in any shape according to the designer’s intention, can use the traditional extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and Blister molding methods, can be widely used in sheet, high-performance shrinkage film, bottle and profile markets, at the same time, the secondary processing performance is improved It can also be modified by conventional machining.
